Roof Cleaning & Soft Washing in Winder, GA

Roof cleaning in Winder, GA should be handled like roof care, not pressure washing. The black streaks on many roofs around Fort Yargo, downtown Winder, Hwy 211, Hwy 53, and wooded Barrow County lots are usually roof algae and organic growth fed by shade, pollen, humidity, tree cover, and limited.

Why Georgia Roofs Get Black Streaks

In Georgia's warm, humid climate, black roof streaks are often associated with Gloeocapsa magma, a type of airborne cyanobacteria commonly called blue-green algae. It thrives where moisture lingers and can feed on the limestone filler used in many asphalt shingles. Shade, tree cover, pollen, and limited sunlight can help the staining spread and stay visible. Not every dark mark has the same cause, so we review the roof before recommending a cleaning plan. Moss and lichen can be more serious because they hold moisture against the roof surface and can disturb roofing materials over time.

Austin did a fantastic job! He pressure washed my driveway, sidewalks, tops of the stacked stone flowerbeds, two wood privacy fence panels, stone steps, deck, deck chairs and brick/tile. He even checked out a possibly clogged underground pipe that drains the downspouts to my side yard (luckily, turns out it wasn't clogged and the water went right through). Will definitely use Clean Defense Force again. Thank you!

Common questions

Roof Cleaning & Soft Washing Questions in Winder, GA

Straight answers about roof cleaning & soft washing, estimates, and what to expect.

No. Roofs should be soft washed with low pressure. High pressure can damage shingles and shorten roof life.

Most Winder homeowners use roof washing, roof cleaning, and roof soft washing to describe the same goal: treating black streaks, roof algae, moss, lichen, and organic growth. The important part is using low pressure and reviewing the roof before recommending a cleaning plan.

Yes. Black streaks are usually algae growth. Our roof soft washing process treats the organic growth so the roof can brighten without high-pressure damage.

Sometimes. Metal roof cleaning depends on the finish, slope, access, age, oxidation, fasteners, seams, and overall roof condition. We review it carefully before quoting because not every metal roof should be treated the same way.

A metal roof that looks dirty may also have oxidation, chalking, coating wear, difficult access, or fastener and seam concerns. We review those details first so we do not promise a cleaning plan that is wrong for the roof.
